| Here is another triplet exercise that will build strength and stamina, and also help build a larger scale vocabulary (more on that in the future). These exercises require wider stretches between the fingers. A word of caution: Since these exercises require larger stretches than 1 fret per finger, your hands should be decently warmed up. Approaching these with a tempo that is too fast than your used to, or over doing these exercises WILL damage your hands.Start SLOW, work on accuracy, the speed will come.
Ex.1&2 (use fingers 1,2,&4 then use fingers 1,3,&4) Pick and slur*
-------------------------------1-3-5-6-4-2----------------------------------
-------------------------1-3-5-------------6-4-2----------------------------

-------------1-3-5-------------------------------------6-4-2----------------
-------1-3-5-------------------------------------------------6-4-2----------

(*Slurring means to "Hammer and Pull", or be "legato.")

Remember that these are exercises, and although they have musical applications, they are NOT music. They are designed to help develope your hands for musical passages. We will be diving into some more musical examples, as well as some chord work in the future. | "C'mon Dave, Gimme a break!" | Edited by - AXEMAN2415 on 04 Dec 2005 02:54:18 |
