T O P I C R E V I E W | AnonJr | Posted - 21 Jan 2009 : 19:36:29 Jeff Atwood, a programming blogger whom I respect, recently posted an article on "The One Thing Programmers and Musicians Have In Common".
As much as I tend to agree with Jeff, I'm not sure there's only the "one thing". Read the article, and follow some of the links to his back topics, and let me know what y'all think. I'm still sussing through it myself. | 2 L A T E S T R E P L I E S (Newest First) | AnonJr | Posted - 22 Jan 2009 : 06:12:27 I'm no Vai myself, so I wonder if that doesn't color my perception a little too.
Still, one of the commenters remarked that music is one of the more universal things, and therefore is not worth using as a measuring stick. However, I think the commenter in question missed the point. It wasn't so much the appreciation of music, but the actual creation and performance of music.
Or maybe as Jeff Atwood intonates, its a bit of "another convenient, self-fulfilling analogy we programmers use to puff ourselves up." | Shredhead | Posted - 22 Jan 2009 : 01:39:11 Interesting article , but my programming knowledge ends at a calculator { as you well know }lol , so I couldn't really comment . |
